If you have been wanting to learn timber framing then this is the workshop for you. We will be cutting a three-bent, 18 x 24 frame with a complete floor sill, and a full upstairs . This is a great starter size cabin, at 864 sq ft. You will learn how to read timber frame plans, how to use TF tools, cut and assemble joinery, and finally get to raise a frame. You will receive a complete copy of the plans to take home and can reproduce this frame on your land. This workshop will give you the skills and confidence to start timber framing.
This is a very hands-on workshop, with the entire frame being cut and assembled by the students. The majority of the work (90%) will be done using hand tools. We appreciate the precision and quietness of using hand tools and how it connects participants to the beams they are working on. Participants will also be able to learn and practice with a chain mortiser on the frame. The one power tool that we really like in the timber framing process. 6 day workshop: Monday-Friday (cutting the frame), Saturday-Raising Day
Daily schedule: 9am start, Noon-1pm- Lunch break, 1pm-5pm Afternoon session
Cost: $900, includes lunch each day. Camping included on site, hot showers, evening fires and camp games, music. You are responsible for your own breakfasts and dinners. Party on raising day, usually lasts until late in the night.

Come join us for a week long timber frame workshop and go home with the skills necessary to build your first timber frame.
At Timber Dwarves, our mission is to create a win, win, win experience. We teach students the time honored tradition of timber framing, create a structure for a client that is beautiful and lasting and honor our skills as craftsman through sharing this art form with others.
We are offering a hands on workshop experience, where we will guide novices in the creation of an amazing timber frame structure using almost all hand tools in its entirety.
Time lapse of a 14 x 20 pavilion going up on the Between the Rivers campus. We built this in 5 days using only hand tools and raised on the 6th day. Of the 11 students, 9 had no previous wood-working experience.
